Blow moulding technology will be a new special topic highlighted at EuroMold 2009, according to a recent announcement issued by the show’s organizer DEMAT GmbH. The feature show Blow Moulding Technology and Mould Making will bring together specialists and decision makers from all fields that use blow moulding. Manufacturers use the innovation-friendly polymer-processing technology to make PET bottles, hard protective cases, automobile fuel tanks, and many other products. Thus, the material, process, and tool requirements for blow moulding are quite various. The next EuroMold will put together a network of vendors to make the entire blow moulding process chain transparent for all show visitors. The new EuroMold special feature show will cover the latest developments in blow moulding, including the making of blow moulds. Exhibitors’ displays will present all essential aspects of the technology, from heat treatment to materials, and from tools and moulds to surface treatment and postprocessing. In addition, state-of-the-art technologies will be explained and discussed at a special lecture forum where exhibitors representing the blow moulding field will be highlighted. Blow moulding is a process made up of two fundamental phases. First, a preform, or parison, of hot plastic resin is created in a somewhat tubular shape. Then, a pressurized gas, usually air, is introduced to expand the hot preform and press it against a female mould cavity. The pressure is held until the plastic cools. Perfect coordination of all the links in the process chain is necessary for realizing a perfect product. EuroMold 2009 will take place December 2–5 at the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
